The brilliant tones of Autumn are framed nicely by the deep blues of the Gallatin River. A light drizzle was falling as I captured this image. The wet leaves were saturated not just with water, but with color. I do love a stormy day. The energy in the clouds is contagious. To stand in the cold rain, to hear the pitter-patter of raindrops, to observe gentle flow of this calmer stretch of river brings such a sense of contentment to my soul. Even now I can smell the crisp humid air. The scent of willow and dogwood fills the air. I hear the clattering call of a Kingfisher across the river. Overhead a Raven swoops by on its endless meanderings. I kept coming back to the tiny stream which is joining forces with the larger river. The loud colors arching over it belie the quiet beauty of the moment. From the grasses and undergrowth to the towering Cottonwoods behind me, the landscape was filled with delightful Autumn hues.
